I am looking for a 1911 style pistol. I already know I can’t afford a colt, remington, springfield or other top of the line versions so will settle for a lower brand version. I have done some research and know a few good brands, i.e. Para Ord, Taurus, ATI, etc., and can get one at a cost between $400 to $600. One of the lower cost guns has a good online review history, I may end up going for it.
Anybody here want to part with a 1911? Blued or SS? I prefer the 4.25" barrel but 5" OK. If you have one you want to sell please drop me a line with the make, model and other information on your pistol.
Thanks.
PS - I will consider trading a Taurus TCP 380, with 100+ rounds of ammo, as partial compensation. It is the black SS version in good condition, with manual, belt pouch, pocket holster and permanently installed picky extensions on both of the mags. If the price is right I might even sell the TCP by itself.
Check out the RIA (Rock Island Armory) 1911. I bought one three years ago at a gun show new for about $290 and love it. They have gone up in price since then.
Dilly, The RIAs look good. They are basic, no frills, 45 caliber hand-cannons. Just what I like. That one and the ATI FX series are very similar. I currently have my eye on the ATI GI model with the 4.25 barrel. Just under $400 on-line. But I will wait a tad to see what is out there and may spring for a little more bling on the gun if the features suit me. (sights, extra mag, grips, etc.)
Reelescape, my brother has a Taurus 1911 and is also very satisfied.
