Dear Colongo…You said yourself that you have lived here a long time. Remember when Daniel Island was private property owned by the Gugenhiem family? Remember when Shem Creek boat landing was a mud hole at low tide? Remember when Tollers Cove charged $2 to launch your boat? Remember when you could shoot diver ducks off Crab Bank? Remember when you could kill doves on the spoil area in the Cooper River? I could go on and on, but I’m sure you get the point. Between the development and influx of people, the regulations imposed by the Gov’t, and the finite resources available up and down the Atlantic coast, change happens. Some good, some not so much. We’ve got a thriving spot tail population due to banning gill nets, but the crabs are under intense pressure. Look at the price for a bushel of Jimmy’s these days.
