Data from a Tag I turned in

Ever wonder about the history of that fish you just caught? I turned in a tag from a spottail I recently caught and found out that:

He was origianlly tagged 255 days before I caught him.

In that time he grew from 14.3 inches to 18 inches (that’s pretty fast growth i thought).

I caught him basically in the same spot he was tagged at 9 months earlier.

I also got a cool T-shirt.

very nice

OUR GOVERNMENT HAS BECOME THE ENEMY OF FREEDOM.

It would be interesting to see data on all fish caught after being tagged. Growth rate, where tagged initially and where caught.

I rally wanna catch at tagged fish just for that reason.

I’m so salt life I get land sick.

All three tagged Redfish I’ve caught were tagged very close to where I caught them.

The day I got my tagged fish my brother also got one. Pulled them out of a school. If you can leave the tag in so they can be caught again. I grab my cell and leave myself a voicemail with the tag number then let the fish go tag intact. On the SC Fish Ruler decal they have the number to call in the tag # right there. Couldn’t be any easier!

That’s pretty cool to be able to track the growth and hangouts of those fish. I hope that DNR does make moves to restart the tagging program, even if anglers are to buy their own equipment.

Isn’t that awesome! I’ve been fortunate to catch a few. One my buddy caught in the same spot 6 weeks before, from my boat. I about died seeing that. It was within a mile of where he was tagged.
But my favorite!

Tagged double hook up! Even DNR hadn’t seen that one.
It’s a great program.

Go Pack!

One was tagged right up from where we caught it and the other about 3 miles away if I recall. It was a cold, miserable, and rather fishless day up until that point!

The kids each caught one on the same day, but not at the same time. We’ve brought 8 tagged into the boat, 5 from the same spot .9 miles from where they were released by DNR 9 months prior.

Its exciting, especially if your kid gets one. And it helps DNR while rewarding you for it.

did you turn in info over the phone or submit it thru the DNR website? I caught my first tagged fish last wknd, really looking forward to getting some ■■■■■■■■ from DNR.

I did mine via the website. If I recall there s a link to John Archembault who coordinates the program where you can e-mail him the info. They need tag number, length and location caught. He will then get with you on what reward you want (hat or T-shirt).

Congrats!
