Davidson / Mills River 5/15

Heading up to the Davidson / Mills River areas this weekend. Anybody have any details on how it’s going up there? Water levels, patterns, etc. Will be fishing the Davidson above the hatchery and the S Mills up from Turkey Pen. Camping on the Davidson most likely.

Thanks for any input.

Rivers are fishing REALLY WELL right now. N. Mills is FULL of 12-14in. cookie-cutters. Lots of water here right now, temps this week in the upstate are 50 in the morning and 75 in the afternoon. Does not get any better all year for our trout. Good luck, email any questions.

I love those rivers, browns are sluts for mouse patterns in the s. mill

Should be a great weekend. Water is normal and should be clear if we don’t have any downpours end of the week. Trying to fit in an afternoon on Friday if I can get all my stuff done. There was a good mixed hatch going Thursday - sulphurs and some quill gordon patterns, maybe the old standby adams would be good choices. Good luck.

Just looked at the stream flow data for the 2 rivers you mentioned and they look pretty good compared to the park and a few streams further west, have had a lot of rain. and possibly more on the way? If you happen to be up here and into wandering west Troutfest is at little river outfitters in Townsend this weekend worth checking out.

If it swims throw a fly at it!

I fished the Davidson on 5/9, egg patterns and midges did the trick last weekend.

For what it is worth i just got back from fishing in Catalochee and da bugs were hatchin crazy. the water is dropin and the weekend should be sick, so If you wanna test yourself against the educated natives make the drive, up here ya earn your stripes on rivers where your quarry is smarter than we are! Good Luck Where ever ya go!
