Left a little later than normal waiting for the ocean to settle down
Ride out was not to bad started fishing bout 8:45 had a nice dolphin in the bout before all the lines we out
Figured we were in for a banner day. Wasnt the case weed was scattered everywhere and we worked real hard to scratch out 8 dolphin all teenagers
tried the jigs out on some marks @ the end of the day got a couple AJs and i pulled off a real nice blackfin right under the boat
Luckily we gave it 1 more drop and I managed my first ever AP he was 29#s
Couldnt find the GA state record does anyone know?
Per DNR records, you would be the new record holder. There is no record in their list of African Pompano. Here is what I was looking at. I also struggled finding info for you.

I dont believe african pompano is recognized by dnr records due to its limited catch. 25-35 lbs is average for africans and whoppers are 40-50. Either way they are awesome fish. We got a nice one freediving. Congrats

Congradulations, I am sure SAFMC will be sending you an official trophy and certificate very shortly!
Brand new rod and you caught a great fish with it. On the butt you still have the ugly stick label.
Heck send them a picture of that, they will probably mail you something.
Funny you say that
Its actually my buddies setup he is just starting into the jig thing he's probably the best bottom guru I know but very penn 309(oldschool)
I would normally be holding one of my way to $$$ Shimano setups but it was at the house broken  Because I can't get no love from their customer service
Gotta say the ol penn ugly stick combo handled it and the big tuna pretty well
