Been since August since we fished so we decided to go after the bluefin in NC. After hearing the wahoo reports and seeing the flat ocean we changed gears and pointed offshore and fished the steeples off the Frying Pan shoals in 74 degree water. Caught 3 blackfin and 2 dolphin. We also had a nice billfish bite on the shotgun that put up a couple of quick jumps and took about half the line off a 50W. It spit the hook about 30 feet behind the boat and we never got it up. Wren said it was a large sail but the chaffed leader and my left forearm said it was a small blue. Another fishing story in the long line. There were plenty of wahoo caught around us. We had 2 bites but had to trade some tuna with another boat to get ours. The air temp dropped 24 degrees from where we fished to the dock. Not a bad day offshore for mid Jan.
