Dawhoo Landing

Good afternoon,

Just looking for new places to launch from and was hoping to get some info about launching from the Dawhoo landing.

Thanks,

Dave

what kind of information?

It’s a pretty easy ramp to use.

Nice landing, and free. Lots of parking.

very well maintained by the CCPRC guys, grass is always cut and place is clean.

To clearify: basically, being a beginner I was wondering, does the tide rip through like wappoo, is it crowded like county farm, (had my frist experience there Saturday and I think I would like to avoid that circus in the future.) It wasn’t to bad until the boat/campers came and backed their boat and a jeep with a trailer on the ramp.

Thanks again,

Dave

Like any landing, it can get a little congested at peak times. Nothing like the cut or shem creek though.

The current does run pretty hard.

Tides can be fast but just make sure to use the proper side in relation to the flow and you will be fine. Only time I have seen a CF is when the Rockville Regatta is going on. Well-maintained, plenty of parking, never had a safety issue, and most of the users are very good at launching and retreiving. Great place for either North or South Edisto access.

Watch out for all the fishing lines off of the dock. They are not usually a problem, just remember to pay attention.

I find the current at Wappoo makes it pretty easy to tie up outside the ramp (only need a bowline, and the current pulls you straight)… but Wappoo does get insane on the weekends. Also, you seem to get more of the idiots who tie up INSIDE the ramp pier on those days. I might try another ramp soon.

Hey Dave, We saw that parker on Saturday. Not a bad lookin boat. My son and I took out a little McKee saturday for some fun time. That guy with the jeep looked like they were loading the whole house on that boat. That landing gets clustered on weekends but usually moves fairly smooth. That is until the jet ski’s take over and they have a party on the dock closest to the marina.

Hey Coot, Thanks, not bad for a 1991, My Dad has taken really good care of the Parker. It moves pretty good with the Honda 130 4 stroke, a little too good, I forgot where I was up by the plantations and didn’t notice the “no wake” zones. Lesson learned. I was waiting for the kitchen sink to come out of that jeep. Looking forward to meeting you on the water sometime.
