Day Saver + Lazy fish

A fellow CF member (slickcrick) and I were able to get out and do some fishing on Sunday. We were on the water by 5 AM and started off throwing topwater. Not too much action there and as the sun came up we switched over to some Zman baits. We finally saw the first fish crashing bait in the back of a small creek. I threw to him and watched him eat it, but pulled a bassmaster hookset and yanked it from him after a short run. We then followed the same fish through an even smaller creek no wider than our hobies but lost him. As the water met the spartina, we went back to one of my favorite flats. As we were coming around the corner to enter the flat, we hear fish destroying bait. We turn the corner and see a dozen BIG fish going absolutely crazy gorging on bait. I make I cast and hookup to an absolute pig. After about 10 minutes i had him near the kayak and ready to land… one powerful headshake and he swims away with a Zman Diesel MinnowZ in the corner of his mouth. We lost the fish as the tide filled the flat and advanced farther into the grass with no luck. We decided to head back and worked trout tricks on the way…nothing. We were looking at a skunk after seeing aggressive fish all morning…Time to resort to the final plan. I netted some menhaden and we set up at a very secret dock and waited. 25" redfish saved the day

Headed out this morning and was on the water by 6:30. Didin’t see a fish all morning and advanced onto the same flat that slickcrick and I had fished on Sunday. This time there were no blowups or backs sticking out of the water. I moved farther into the grass as the tide rose and finally found the fish lazily scanning the bottom. I threw at three different fish…laid it right in front of them smothered in procure. They would take a glance at it and turn away. They barely moved 10 feet for about 30 minutes and I must have casted at them 25+ times…nothing. Sometimes they just don’t eat. Tri

Nice report. Way to persevere
