Son and I stopped at Better Bait and picked up our usual 3 doz. … went straight to Jake’s to put in and found almost all of then dead… thats just within a few minutes… I think that what happened was… when I cleaned the boat after the "Grandkids Day " weekend 'fore last, I must have gotten some “Purple Power” or something in the live well and didn’t rinse it and air it out enough… never happened before to me, so a word of caution to all live baiters… went on out anyway, some what down in the dumps, but started power drifting with trolling motor set on lowest speed and dead baits down about 30 to 40 ft… yea, just like the “big time” salt water guy’s do !!! after 20 minutes, first pull down and Son brought in a nice “dinner” fish about 8lbs and 25 inches… about 20 minutes later, I got a hookup and played what I thought was a nice one , almost to the boat, then he just spit it out !! circle hook didn’t work that time… then Son brought in a 28 incher to go with his first one… then I finally did get an 18 incher to the boat, but released him in good shape to catch next year… all in all, we had a nice relaxing morning and caught some fish and had a few good pull downs, even with dead bait…back at Jake’s by 10:30 and got a nap in before First Mate got back from vacation in Yankee Land !!
Glad to hear yall had a good morning. Did you happen to see any schoolers ? I’m kinda getting tired of buying bait and lugging that ole bait tank around. I might start Bass fishing again, but it’s hard to pass up a school hitting top water.
