a friend was given use of a beach house in debordeiu in july and invited myself and some non-fishing friends along. i haven’t fished in the salt for years and i’m tired of my nine weight collecting dust. any places around that area that can be fished on foot? i’m not looking for any honey holes, i’m just looking to catch something since my fishing time will be limited. are pompano, puppy drum and specks in the surf down there? it looks like the beach along that area is pretty featureless. i was planning on hoofing it to north inlet or pawleys inlet and swinging streamers on an outgoing tide, but thats about all i can come up with. any help at all would be appreciated! i know this is a first post soliciting for info, but if use your advice to catch something, anything i’ll send you some trout flies, or tell you good spots in charlotte to catch tiny creek bass! haha.
There are some old pier pilings past the houses to the south of Debordieu. I have caught nice trout there in the past.

Walk to the north end of the island, there is a rip that runs between debbydo* and pawleys, You could throw into that inlet, take some surf fishing gear with you and you can catch croakers/whiting/ and bluefish anywhere off the beach, then take those little fish and bait them up and throw them back out on a little bigger rod and see if you can get a shark to hit. Good luck

The south end of Pawleys is dry at about a 1/4 tide this year. I have caught alot of fish there and fish that area a couple times a month but this year has been a bust. You can easily walk pawleys creek at a falling tide, caught several flounder on the prince george side of the creek. Make sure to stay below high tide mark though, above it is private property.

Thanks! i’ll let you know how it goes!
Well… Didn’t do so hot. I only fished the marsh behind debidue one day and saw some fish busting up mullet in the shallows, but didn’t get a bite. I fished a couple of days around pawleys island and saw more fish activity. I fished the inlet on the north end and got two bites on a chartreuse/white clouser, but whatever it was cut right through my 40lb shock tippet both times. Sharks or bluefish? I saw quite a few bait fisherman fishing maybe 50-100yards away from me on the jetty, but they only caught a few spot. Everyone else I talked to who was using bait on that inlet weren’t doing so well either. I did see a 3-4 foot long shark cruising around, but I wasn’t able to drop the fly right on his nose to get him to bite.
I’m heading down in AUG - will be second to last house on South end of Pawleys - first time fly’n - always been a beach shark, spinning guy - I’ll hit ya up with an update of any sucess I have - I hope…
