December Fishing Prospects?

I’m looking ahead to some warmer weather, maybe 10 days from now, and what kind of inshore/nearshore fishing that ought to bring:

  1. I know the nearshore reef should have some nice black drum on it, if the last 2 years’ pattern holds up. Some big sheepshead, too.
  2. The jetties; will they still have sheepshead aplenty, or will they have moved out to reefs yet?
  3. Reds must be schooled up now; but you gotta be out there everyday to keep up with them. Wish I could do that. ICW? Stono? Folly River?
  4. Cold water; what will the trout be doing? I will try DOA’s under float but be ready to put them on the bottom, low and slow. Capt JR says put Gulps on the bottom and just let them sit there, moving with the current…reds. Trout; PatientMaker says use green colored grubs, as does Capt Richard Sturh.
Choices, choices, we live in a good place.

sheepshead should still be at the jetties

reds will be on the flats schooled up most likely throw… gulp jerkshads at them

trout are in 6-10 feet of water around oaysters… ive thrown an electric chicken the past couple of days and have produced some slot trout

thts all in the icw

work everything slower!

Eat-Sleep-Fish

this is just a pet peeve… but there’s no such thing as a slot trout.

saltwata, i think all of the above are reasonable. hit it hard the next week or two, because after the weather change this wknd, water is gonna get a lot colder.

general plan: inshore sheeps and trout before they get real slow, reds and reef fishing till springtime.

you and me, Barba
see you out there!
