Deep Hole just north of IOP?

Hello Everyone,
Second post here, first was trying to find live eels in near Mt Pleasant, but not many people responded haha.

I just moved here a month ago, and we’re finally taking out my buddy and I’s 172 Seahunt (with a semi reliable stupid Johnson motor). We heard about a great place to catch sharks… somewhere just north of the IOP… in the intercoastal that is really deep. Could someone give me the coordinate so I can look it up on Google Earth, or perhaps give me some directions to find it? Looking to catch something a little bigger than the typical sharpnose we’re catching at Breach.

Thank you for your help!

its the second left after the no wake zone from IOP. Just watch your garmin and watch it drop from 25ft to about 80ft…

Dewees Inlet/creek. Its marked on the chart.

Let us know if you find it and how you do.

I’ll definitely let you guys know! Alright… so if we put in at IOP marina… and head north… according to Google Earth, from the Marina, there is:

-A Creek on the left

-It says “Seven Reaches” in the middle of the stretch heading north with Pine Island to the right

-A large intersection where Dewees Inlet is, there is an island on the Eastern side of this.

-Where is the hole compared to the island? Hope this is enough information to help you guys guide me… I’d rather not spend the day trolling and looking for a deep hole… want to get my lines wet  haha.

Thanks again!

Second creek on the left, put a weight on the line and sound it. It won’t take long to find.

Use the ruler feature of google earth in the path mode, with the length dimension set to “feet”…

Place your cursor on the “P” for Pine Island, go due north for 4,766.84 feet. This is the center of the mouth of the second creek on the left.

After this, I can’t help you.

We went there about a month ago. Were after Spinner Sharks but wound up catching six Sharpnose 2’-4’ approx, a few Snapper Blues and the usual whitings.
Bottom fished the edge of the hole using Carolina rigs w/large hooks and big chunks of cut mullet.
There are BIG sharks there-you may have better luck than we did.

Fishing wasn’t that great today… a TON of pups (~20) and only 2 ~30" Sharpnose were caught… found the hole… 84’ deep but had difficulty anchoring close enough to cast to the depths… Thanks for your help!
