Good grief…threads like this is the problem with todays society…spend some D A M N seat time out there and figure things out for yourself. Quit being a democrat…

SoCo, what do you think this forum is for there Einstein? Just posting reports of one’s success? I try to help if I can and appreciate it when others reciprocate. Stop reading it and go back to watching the Faux Nutwork if it bothers you so much. Geez.

It just goes to show the mentality of today’s “sportsmen”…rather than spending the time figuring stuff out for yourself, you would rather have someone “tell me how to do this, or better yet…SHOW ME!”

People go out and don’t have instant success at something and and come back to the interweb looking for a handout…

Soco
Maybe some of the " sportsman" are not as fortunate as you to spend a lot of time outdoors! I sure am not one of those. True sportsman help fellow sportsman to learn, not by bashing their heads. Don’t like what you see here, go to another thread!

So-Co. I can’t speak for others, but between my schedule, my wife’s schedule, kids, and grandkids, I may get to go shrimpin about 4 or 5 times this year. So spending time out there to “figure things out” is a bit of a struggle. I’ve never been deep holin’, but would like to try. I thought this sight was to share information…and based on your ■■■■■■■■, I was wrong. I’m sure you’re a nice guy and you probably have lots of stories to tell and helpful hits to share, but I’ve been wrong before. Have a great day. Tight lines and full nets to everyone…

In honor of SoCo, I took my 7 year old deep holing on Sunday. We did not cooler out, but got enough for supper. Size was from medium to almost giant prawn size (although there were only a handful of those). We also caught a lot of small fish I think were croakers, so the sonar view I am posting is not all shrimp. I’m wondering if the water may be a bit too warm still for them to really be in the deep holes, or maybe the one I was at just isn’t a “hot” one. Anyway, the shot from my Garmin 541 is below. The dark red line just above the white is the bottom. The sonar returns from about 38 to 42 ft is “live”. Hope this helps. Good luck.

You really have to learn your sonar features. Bottom clutter can be weeds, etc. I managed to get fairly clear
returns by tweaking the ping rate and sensitivity. Look at what other features you have as well like bottom line, etc.
Especially note what you see when you catch shrimp.

OccamsRaiser,
Maybe you could display Lat/Long on screen so we could better understand.

Thanks Raiser. Awesome picture. Will take a look see at my Garmin and try it out this weekend. If I get into 'em, I’ll take a picture and post it here.

This what we saw last week. We were catching a steady 15-20 per cast. Trying to drive and take a picture so sorry for the bad shot. Pluff bottom. Look at the center of the camera, sometimes it had many of these in a row. (I know it is a deep hole question but maybe it could work in either)
