Deep Yet

Any shrimp in the holes yet?

I have gone twice this year. No shrimp either trip as I threw to my normal spots. Both trips were in the Charleston Harbor and I was the only boat out looking both trips. Once weather cools a little I hope my luck changes. It has been awfully hot throwing a 10’ net and pulling it up 25 to 40 feet empty!

I have had moderate success over the last two weeks. The below pict was from Saturday I think. Went Sunday as well and got close to that same amount. It is very spotty as I will get 50 in one cast and then none or 1 over the next 10. But you can count on nematacyst on the wrists and arms. I am throwing a 10 foot and 5/8. Hope to see you both on the water soon. Great camaraderie on the water on Sat AM amongst the many boats.

Nice size on those scrimps.

50 in one cast? Nice

Were you in the harbor Sat AM? I’ve never had much luck in harbor until late afternoon. If we’re going in the AM we usually hit BB.

We will be out there tomorrow afternoon dodging the weather. 19’ jon boat with poling platform and white bow motor mount. Thanks for the ■■■■■■■■.

Yes…we were out there Sat AM. Think we got there around 830. Five boats at start became 15 by 10am. Three of us and throwing 10 foots. It was not that great even though we were near low/slack tide which I was hoping would improve the counts. Met a guy named Steve throwing an 8 foot and the guy on the Hannah Kay…I think was the name. The Simrad echo and chirp have really helped in locating them. And we are getting better in deciphering the bottom as what are scrimps and what are not. Hoping to get back out on Fri and Sat but the weather will dictate. No 50 count casts on Sat but a couple on Sunday evening.

Nice catch, what depth were you throwing in? We seemed to do well between 25-30 ft last season.

That seems to still be the range. We did find some small groups as deep as 42…and last week 33 seemed to be the sweet spot. I am still working on the fundamental variables of depth, tide, and water temp In regards to how they move.
