Not thin Skinned at all Capt, you told somebody trying to sell something on here they were borderline ripping folks off, I challenged that statement. And posting pictures of your Walmart corn tells me all I need to know… I love this website more and more every day. Heres a break down of the Farm Bill, lets cut some food stamps then we can discuss taking more money from folks that work 14 hours a day so you and I can eat…
It ought to tell you that some folks will look for the best price possible. It is really that simple for me. Well, I certainly agree with welfare, food stamps, and all that jazz being out of freaking control, but that is a whole different bag of crap for another day .

Wow! Skeeter I’m glad you don’t have control of the grain market pricing. I would have to find an office job.
The farm bill money we only receive 20% of our total loss. That would be 20% of of your income for the year at the most if the farm had a 100% loss. Not a lot of money they are bailing us out with. The subsides was taken off the plate by Obama a few years back. No I’m not asking for sympathy. Just hope you have a better understanding.
I once thought I wanted to be a farmer. Most of my neighbors are. I found it to be the hardest way in the world to make minimum wage, besides fishing. 3 years of growing corn, I said the heck with that. Sanding boats is easier and pays better.
I’ve got a lot of respect for farmers. I wonder if Walmart is selling corn from China Everybody has an opinion, but I’ll pay a local farmer an extra $ to keep him in business, and I haven’t been in a Walmart in years.
I ain’t buying corn to feed wood goats anyway, have enough trouble keeping them out of the garden now.

Never said I was against helping farmers, doc. You are correct…I’m certainly not dishing out any sympathy either. In BC’s case, I understand better now in his situation because he is only working with 5 acres. We can all disagree on things in discussions. However, I’m not on here whining about all the problems we are having in the military because of the current administration either. We just do more or the same with less. Many of us are feeling that pinch in different ways, but we keep pressing forward.

Highest I’ve found it is 7.50. Average is 7. 5.50 a bag if you get a corn trailer load.
I have seen it as low as $4.70 a bushel. I don’t understand why people even mess with buying it on the cob any more
7.50 for large white bag of cob and 7.00 for shell here

Originally posted by Skeeter22You are not going to like this, but I’m going to say it. $8 per bag this year is borderline rip off. $9 and $10 is a big rip off. Here is why I think that: (1) fuel prices are down and staying down, (2) the State just dished out $40 million of tax payer money to the farmers due to the flood last year, (3) we have had steady rain this year with no drought. Crops are looking good all over the State so are the bowstrings from 60x I might add. I have found the big white bags at $7 so far, and I expect I’ll be finding it at a little better price even if I have to drive a little bit to pick it up.

Because some people know everything about everything, so only their opinion matters. Anyone who disagrees must be silenced, immediately.
