What is your opinion on it? Seems like I see alot of buck while putting out corn.
Deer know that most hunters aren’t in the woods hunting mid day. Killed my 3 largest ( oldest ) Bucks between 1 pm to 3 pm.
When I did taxidermy full time most of the real trophies were killed from 10-2. I know a guy that goes to Illinois every year and he says thats when he sees/kills his bucks. I’ve tried to sit during the middle of the day and it is dificult.
Hunting the middle of the day out in the Midwest and hunting the middle of the day in SC are two totally different things. In South Carolina , I’ve seen a few killed mid morning during the peak rut( killed one myself mid day). When it’s good it’s good, when it’s slow it sucks. I’ll stick to the morning and afternoons unless I get one patterned.

I’ve always had good success during mid-day, especially on public land. The deer learn to pattern the hunters. They hear them come roaring in every morning in trucks and 4 wheelers and they lay low. Usually about 10am people start leaving the woods for lunch and when it quiets down the deer come out.

What everyone else said + In the past only hunted mid day for an invite or if I had patterned a very nice buck on the game cam.
I believe for most it’s just too inconvenient to sit mid-day and so much more activity early morning or lat evening for the rest.
As for patterning a nice buck… they will change in full rute. Then it’s just a good guess, going often, or just plain good luck.
