you would take exit 33 off of I95. that will be HWY 17 north. my estimate is like 10-15 miles from the exit (Point South) is Wiggins road and it is a long road… Wiggins road could itself be 15 miles long <may be that it just seems that long> but it is definately BEAUTIFUL hunting woods and i have seen numerous deer and turkeys as well as quail while driving to the boat ramp. there are 2 boat ramps on that road…Wiggins ramp and Fields Point.
my grandfather use to be part owner of some land <a plantation> out that direction called “SAVAGE PLACE” and it is now part of what is known as the ACE Basin. i think its actually part of Donnely. i have heard many many stories of monster bucks and awesome duck hunts from my parents and uncles as thats where they grew up hunting
property was sold to the Government and now its a wildlife sanctuary and will be until the end of time and never to be developed.
i came along in 1982…just a few years too late to experience any of its hunting grandeur but have ridden through it many times taking “the nickel tour” given by my parents. it was sold off during the time that my parents started dating/got engaged/got married. sure do wish i couldve gotten in on that action, but i am sure proud that it will be kept “wild”.
closest towns are: Point South,Green Pond,Yemassee,Walterboro,Jacksonboro…again i must say…VERY rural area… VERY BEAUTIFUL AREA
liquor in the front, poker in the rear!
