We’ll have to disagree. Personally I don’t harvest more than two a year, but the principal of the matter is I really don’t like being told during deer season that the weather makes it unfair for the deer.

Maybe I should have added some extrA. I know many awesome landowners and hunters that do the decent thing and dnr is not worried about that. It is all the irresponsible hunters that will use this history breaking storm to take as many as they can driving a small area holding lots of displaced herded up deer. Believe me that is/was the plan for many a hunter this week. Unfortunately I know several jack ass hunters that just like to kill deer for the hell of it. Numbers are their trophy and brag point.

We are not really talking about land owners, but rather lease holders.

Y’all are looking at this wrong, you can’t hunt deer but you can go in and slaughter all the pigs you want. I don’t normally care for an AR but, Saturday it might be the weapon of choice for my swine jihad.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I know several deer processors and they have seen a HUGE influx of deer since the rains/floods. When you have people that make a living on processing deer saying the DNR needs to step in and do something, there’s clearly an issue. That doesn’t take into account those that process their own deer.

Sadly, Fred is right; there are those that see the number of deer killed as the “trophy.” Those are the ones that have brought about this decision.

Your glass is half full, with lemonade. I’m lucky in my area, no hogs. yet… Keep shooting them.

Two types of land in SC, land that has hogs and land that’s going to have hogs.

Not if you and everyone else keeps killing them!

We used to have’em on our property, prety thick too, but we put the hammer down on’em every chance we got. Haven’t seen a single hog in 4-5 years now, not even on trail cameras. On the flip side, when we had hogs, we saw very few venomous snakes. Over the last 4-5 years, more than you can shake a stick at. Mostly big’ol canebrakes.

We killed a dozen or so off our land a few years back and our neighbor trapped the rest. It is possible to get rid of them. Haven’t seen one for years at our place in awendaw.

First, Most, Biggest

You guys are the first I’ve ever heard say that you got rid of the hogs. That is good news. Now, if someone can help me get rid of the freakin Beavers…

Hunting, fishing, and poker are my sports. Work when necessary.

Would have been better showing the killing of all of them. That was a good haul there.

Are you guys seeing any diamondbacks? A group I know is trying to find numbers on them, and at one time were offering a reward to land owners who would allow them to remove the live snakes.

Not on our property. Everything we’re seeing is canebrakes. Not to say diamonds aren’t there. We just haven’t seen any.

Good luck on the beavers:imp: Your only hope with them is a buddy trapper looking for a steady free trapping spot. Know That!!!

I’ve killed two big timber rattlers this year on the corn pile, but haven’t seen anything else other than racers. I leave those alone.

You wont find anyone who traps beavers and does it right that will do it for free. I trap the **** out of them and its takes a pretty good chunk of time, and time is money…
