No - Date Specific - tags this season. Basic set of tags is now 5. Option to buy 4 Antlerless tags. Option to buy 2 Restricted Buck tags.
? you mean our doe tags are when ever we have the time? That sounds awesome! Haven’t gotten mine yet. Did put out 200# of clay peas today. Probably be mowed down as soon as the come up.
Looks that way. Basic set of tags is 3 Unrestricted Buck & 2 Antlerless.
Interesting. When you search for information about tags on the DNR’s website, it still shows the “date specific” tags but when you go to buy them, it only shows two antlerless and 3 unrestricted antlered as the base set of tags. In full disclosure, I’m perfectly fine with that but I can already hear the butt hurt ramping up as this information begins to circulate. Get your popcorn ready and let the games begin!

If this is true, the people responsible for taking away our doe days are eat up with the dumass .There is no shortage of deer, the deer vs car accidents should prove that, causing all of our rates to go up.This only hurts the common/average joe ,rich guys will be issued all the doe tags they can handle for the land they control. What are they thinking up there in Columbia? If it ain’t broke don’t fix it,everything was just fine before the tagging system.SERENITY NOW
If “everything was just fine before the tagging system,” the tagging system and limit change would’ve never happened.
SC deer herd population has changed, SC habitat has changed and therefore the management approach must change. You can’t have one management approach and expect it to be applicable forever. Sound management simply doesn’t work like that. Herd needs aren’t static and therefore herd management shouldn’t be static either.

Under the New bill(in Game Zone 3 and 4), if you purchase 4 does tags you automatically get 2 more free doe tags IN ADDITION to the 2 that are taking place of the date specific tags. That’s 8 doe tags you can use ANY DAY. More than fair.

That’s an eye opener…and yes more than fair. DNR must have decided we need to thin out some overpopulated does. The bad news that I see are the ones taking the small deer and mistaking a button buck for a doe.

Maybe SCDNR is trying to stop folks from killing young bucks? Let em go so they can grow.

Why 3 unrestricted buck tags then? Wouldn’t more Antlerless tags/opportunity mean more chance for button bucks to be killed, shot for Does.
quote:You’re probably right poly, since qdma has scdnr in their pocket. I think Ruth is on the payroll.haha. I just can’t understand how you consider a big buck a trophy when you raise them like cattle with no fear of man until they’re big enough for slaughter. Not to mention, you probably shoot them at night, with a high powered rifle, over a big bait pile. I guarantee you none of the bucks on my wall were let go and tame. People nowadays will do anything to brag and try to act like they’re better than everyone else. Not many hunt or fish anymore, just for the sport of it. I kinda blame these huntin and fishin shows on tv.

Importing deer makes no sense, only satisfies the greedy, and potentially introduces CWD.
