size is going to depend on how much weight your boat can handle and how long you want the charge to last.
A larger bay boat can handle the weight and needs more Amp/hrs. Where a smaller boat won’t need the bigger battery because it’s not going to use the battery as fast.

If this is on a 17ft boat, I’d go with a smaller battery myself.

I have a 29 series on my boat(19ft bayboat). But it’s a 24v system. I can go pretty much a full day without issue. If I were going to a 36 and needed 3 batteries, I’d go with the 24 or 27 series to save weight.

I use walmart batteries. I haven’t had issues. I’ve heard the AGM batteries are better, but you pay for it.

ALWAYS charge them as soon as you get off the water. that will lengthen the life of the batteries. get an onboard charger if you don’t have one yet.

Where will the batteries be mounted? If under the console, you might be restricted to a 24 or 27 because of a smaller console.

SS Fiero. Thanks very much for the input. The batteries will be mounted on a the battery tray inside the center console of my 17’5". I was liking at the 27 series batteries. I don’t have a charger yet but week be buying an on board bank charger

Lars from O D Sea is coming over in the am to install my TM. I went with the 70 for my Hells bay guide. The boat weighs 695 without the 90 yam. So it should push me just fine. 24 volts
Batteries plus in mt p was the only place that took the time to explain the various types and the pros and cons. I went with the optima batteries which I have used for years so we will see how long they last. Replacement warr. For two years. On board charger as well.

My used boat cost a lot less than most boats.

36 volt is extreme overkill for that boat. so if it were me, I would use the group 24s to save the weight and size

he would have had a 48v setup so I think you’re off base on that…
