After our last trip on Sunday with a small catch everyone said “go deeper” so we went deeper this time, past the Deli, started trolling at a weed line at 600 feet, lines in at 6:45, hooked up at 6:50, hooked 2 more while clearing lines but those got off. Then nothing for an hour, moved out to 1200 feet, found nothing fishy but tried trolling a few current rips, nothing. Headed back towards Sow Pen and found a great weed line right at 400 feet and hooked up so fast could not keep a full spread going. Lots of schoolies swimming around the boat every time we hooked up. Stayed busy until the wind kicked up from the NW (S/SE was forecast?!) which kicked up a nasty chop and scattered the weed line making it hard to keep weed free lines in. Called it quits at 1:30 and headed in at a slow 20 MPH plow. Great fishing, great crew, we had a couple of 10 year olds (my son and his friend) playing hooky that did a great job clearing lines and cranking in fish. Fun day!
