Deli 6/6

Finally our first chance to push out and land some fish this season. Left the Port Royal Sands at 3:30 and deployed our baits in 150 feet around 6:30. Slow start, Landing one Mahi around 7:15. Decided to push out deeper to 400 feet to find a weed line but found lots of scattered weeds with a few weed mats here and there. Decided to see if any creatures were hanging around the Mats. Grabbed the spinning rods and pulled a few slinger Mahi over the side for a delicious fish fry soon to come. Crew had their fun with the spinning rods and decided to deploy the spread again. Picked at the fish/weeds for a while in 400’. Seemed like every fish caught there was another buddy with him waiting for someone to toss a pitch bait at them. Weeds started to thicken up even more on us around noon making us have to work for everything. Was thinking about running away from the scattered weeds when the Way Way Back Rod starts to scream. Fished stayed low the whole fight just tearing line off the TLD. Finally got him up to be welcomed by a 50lb Wahoo. Gave some high fives and quickly tried to deploy the baits back only able to get two rods out when both go down. Fire Drill as Hoo was not in box yet and two rods down. Landed both of the Mahi with one being a 35lb Bull. Ended the day with 16 Mahi 1 Wahoo. Hot color of the day was Blue & White.
