I have a Garmin 3210 with twin screens. We were fishing Saturday and the Depth finder is working fine. Just outside the Jetties it stops working and flashing 42.3’. Never works all day with no pictures of the bottom. We set the scale to 0-100’, 0-500’ and so on. No change. As we are coming home it starts working in about 95’ of water. Works all the way to the dock in the Stono River. The next day leaving the dock not working, then after 2-3 minutes it’s good to go. This has been going on since fishing for miracles last year. I had all the updates done in April by the Garmin guy while it was at Butler’s.Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Check transducer. Mine got knocked out of whack and did the same thing.
Thanks. I was thinking that might be it but I was really hoping for some cheap, magical trick that would do the trick.
Mine was an easy fix. Hope yours is also.
What type of transducer do you have? Transom mount or in/thru-hull?
Most likely its the transducer. A couple things to check. Location of the transducer, stays in the water when running at all speeds. Transducer to far into the water or to high in the water. Trash on the trransducer. Transducer scratched. Transducer not level or cocked to one side. Check electric conections.
Good luck. I’ve been chasing gremlins on the same set up since it was installed 3 years ago.
New GSD 22, in hull box remounted a couple of times, etc. Worked great 2 months ago, didn’t work at all this past weekend (but that’s what I’ve come to expect from it).
Sounds like a transducer issue. How old is the unit? Transducers, like most everything else have a life expectancy and that one may be up.
