Any suggestions on an easy way to mount a depth finder to a kayak ? How and where do I mount the transducer without putting a hole in the kayak ? How do I mount the unit itself ? What is a good battery ? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Most people will epoxy the transducer inside the boat. I have never used one myself in the kayak, but have seen a few nice setups. Talk to Markbob about the battery, he has a good set up.
I have also seen a Hummingbird portable unit that is self contained with a rechargable battery pack.

Go to kayakfishingstuff.com they have everything you need. It seems like I remember a page there that explains how they mount them also.
I am tryong to accomplish the same thing. I have the depth finder with a transducer mount but no power. I was wanting to put a battery in the yak for tyhe live well but don’t know if I can run both off of it. Needless to say I am stumped because I am not any good at this stuff.

Just get one of those “bucket bubblers” for your live bait

I used Marine Goop to attach to inside of hull after light sanding. Can use any piece of foam with cut-out or PVC cap or pipe as a small dish to mount in into. Battery power is 8 rechargeable 1.5 volt batteries in pack. Runs my Cuda FF/GPS wonderfully.
Thank you all for your help. I’ll try it.
have the transducer siliconed to the bottom of the yak. Havn’t had problems yet.
