Depth finders spooking fish

A while ago a poster asked if a depth finders spooked fish and another asked if a radio spooked fish.

I’ve got some experimentation done. While fishing this past weekend and listening to the radio we noticed a rhythmic clicking on the radio. Cut off the depth finder and it went away. We also noticed that the “bite” increased with the depth finder off. This was in fresh water on sandy bottom in 8’-3’ depth. We noticed no difference with radio on or off, just the depth finder.

I would guess in deeper water it wouldn’t make much difference???

We were offshore last weekend - anchored with the music cranking and the gain on the FF cranked up… some Metallica came on, cranked it up even louder - and the bite got stronger. Fish seem to like the double bass drum from “One”. Regular bottom fish, Mahi swimming around the boat, kings under the boat, cuda all over the place. Radio did nothing to slow the bite.

Now inshore, shallow water for reds and rockfish - radio off and quiet on deck.

Do NOT crank up the rap, they will vandalize your boat and steal your rods. Country will make them drunk and wreck your boat.

^HA! Made me laugh, but I guess it was expected
