Depthfinder

What depth finder would you recommend for kayaks.

I bought a Humminbird 160 Portable…when the thing is put together inside the carry bag it is pretty big. There is just not enough room in my wilderness Ride for it. It is a nice package but I can not decide where to put it. I am going to the local small lake tomorrow and try some different options. It would appear that a mounted finder would make more sense.

I have a Humminbird 385ci that I interchange b/w my kayak and jon boat. GPS/sonar and was easy to rig on my commander 120

A waterproof one
i have an Eagle FishEasy2 portable i bought years ago because i swapped between my jonboat, kayak, and canoe. Now i’m down to 2 yaks. The Eagle is bulky but works well. if i had it to do again, i’d buy a standard fish finder rather than a portable, and buy a small rechargeable battery for it. i use the 2 rudder screws on the back to mount my transducer to my portable transducer bracket.
GPS and color would be nice, but pricey.

It works well enough.

If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there’d be a shortage of fishing poles. ~Doug Larson

Bought the demo model and to this day I feel like I stole it from BPS…400 waypoints later and it is payed for itself. I striper fish and waypoints are the way to go…if you don’t need/care for them, then cheap will tell you how deep the water is and you are in business.
