destin fishing tips?

i’m going to destin next weekend. if the weather’s good there, i’ll probably tow my bayboat. any hints on where / when to fish?

You may want to check locally there to see if the fishery has reopened for the area you’re planning to fish. The rumor is that the offshore fishery may reopen Oct.1.

I’d rather fish than eat.

In the Choctawhatchee Bay look for turtle grass and fish plastics (Trout Tricks), topwater, or menhaden.

Buy my lot in Draper Lake and I’ll come down and take you.

Been down there a few times with the boat. If you troll clark spoons right off the beaches you can catch all the spanish you want.(there is some kind of navy weather pier where the spanish always were) You can also catch some big bull reds right off the beach. Went down during the cobia run in may so never really ran more than a few miles offshore.

As a part time Destin resident, I can tell you that you need to stop by Half Hitch Tackle on 98 in the heart of Destin. They can tell you all you need to know about what ever type fishing you want to do.
