Anybody know how the offshore fishing in this area is in the first half of april timeframe? Going down there for a week and would like to try some new water. Any help would be appreciated.
You can sight cast for Cobia cruising 100 yrds off the Beach.

I’ll be going out of Panama City Beach the same time you’re at Destin. I’ve been going about the same time every year for several years. We’ve had great success with snapper and grouper.

The pier will be nuts because of the Cobia, and Red Snapper season does not open until April 21.
The headboats will probably target Triggers, AJ’s, and Grouper.
been to Mexico Beach (near Panama City and Destin) a few times in spring and early summer and caught some kings, spanish and red snapper.
okaloosa fishing pier is between ft.walton and destin. great pier! but the place can be a mad house during the cobia run. they sight fish throwing jigs at cobia up to 100 lbs. they have web site with daily reports on whats being caught. spanish and kings should be good during your time frame,they sight fish for them also, the water is like a big aquarium. 15-20 visibility right on the beach. you will probably love it!
