Deveaux banks

fished there last week. made multiple drifts in the wide open space between seabrook and the west side of the banks and got nothing. Used fresh cut crab, cut mullet and live mud minnows and nothing. what can i do different for fishing around the banks.

Not very familiar with the area but going to give it a try Wednesday morning looking for Tarpon.

Think it’s pretty much hit and miss right there. I never have had much luck there myself but have seen it done!!!

I have fished that area off an on for 20 years. This time of year if you are looking for sharks, the west side of the bank on the edge of the channel can be really good. In the early fall that same area can be good for big reds. For reds I set up as close to breaking water around those sand bars out there, not in the channel. The back side of the bank in front of Botany Bay Island can be great for whiting in the spring and fall. Sometimes you have to move around a few times to find the right depth. When we have those big 7 foot tides you can go up to the backside of the bank and there is a lagoon type area. I have caught reds, trout, sharks and flounder in there. Be careful and be mindful of the tide, or you’ll get stranded. It took me a long time to catch fish out there on a consistant basis. A lot of trial and error.
Good luck !
