Not many details-looks like he was going at a good speed to have this awful event.
Man, that is awful.

Awful. Sounds like she was sitting at the bow. Not enough detail to now if she was in a seat or otherwise. As a reminder, there are rules to where passenger can be sitting while the boat is being operated. They are rules for a reason; safety. Everyday I watch boaters go by my house on the Ashley with people (often children) sitting on the bow with their legs hanging over. It makes me cringe, but I have to watch until they are out of view because if something were to happed I am compelled to help.

Bad things happen so fast. Hope we learn how this happened so we can learn not to repeat it.

A friend had to work this and said it was one of the worst he had seen. They were in a flats boat and when they hit the oyster finger she was ejected and then run over. Freak accident. And as most people know these flats boats and bay boats have nothing to stop you from going over board and nothing to hold on to. The kids saw the whole thing also and it’s just a terrible event.
So Sad

^^^THIS!!
Some of the most effective safety training I’ve seen/delivered is shock/awe type where gruesome injuries are put on full display.
If this unfortunate event was the case of someone hanging overboard while underway, we need to spread the word and make people realize how fast something like this can happen.

I live on the ICW near Myrtle Beach and I see at least 2 or 3 boats traveling with someone straddling the bow every weekend and just shake my head not believing what I see. The other thing I most often see is overloaded boats, 17-18’ Jon boats with 6-8 people in them is a common thing, so overloaded there is no way they even possibly have room for enough life jackets. Saw a 25’+/- Sea Ray last Saturday with so many people on it that one guy was having to ride standing up on the swim platform leaning against the stern while underway.
The stupidity is truly amazing and even more amazing that more are not seriously hurt or killed.

We went from G-town to Myrtle and back on Saturday on the ICW…WOW. The stuff we saw was incredible…not to mention the **** jet-skis!! Like roaches!

Saw six men fishing from a Jon the size of mine in the ICW one day-they were all standing. If a 40’er’s wake hits; into the drink they go:)
Boating just going to get worse with all the growth 'round here.
Note how little is written in detail about these sorts of accidents
in our press-wonder why?
I installed handrails on my Jon to give crew handholds-they have been well received-nothing to close your hand on on a Jon without them.

Best one I have seen lately was a family in an older inboard/outboard ski boat trying to figure out why I would barely go and they could not steer it.
Care to guess the problem?
Yep, lower unit was raised all the way up and they finally called a Tow Boat…
My dad has always called jet skis river roaches.

So it has just started lightning like hell here with a big thunderstorm moving over and which is stupider?
The two on jet skis or the two standing on the golf course across the way holding golf clubs?
They just never cease to amaze.
