Did a little fishing..

Went to the mountains…found I ACCIDENTLY had a rod and reel in the truck:wink:…so bought me a license and did a little fishing
Tis is where I bought my fishing licenses…had to chuckle at the underwear and bras hanging to dry at the front door . Tackle shop was really neat…and the guy seen walking from it was as nice as could be. Told me a few places to go and what to use and also said…“and young lady ( won my heart right there:wink:)… Don’t cha let no local try to run ya cause you got just as much right as dem to fish where I told ya”. We went back by to show him pics of fish I caught and he loved it:smiley:’

Another release…can you see it?

This is where I caught them

The last time Mrs HoofArded and I went to the mountains we stayed in a cabin on a creek like that. I caught a bunch of little trout on a bream buster just leaning over the deck railing. That was fun!

I love the tackle shop with the underwear hanging outside. There’s a Jeff Foxworthy joke there somewhere.

Brings back some great memories. My father taught me to fish in creeks like that in the mountains of western MD. Started on Zebco 33’s with a worm on a bobber in fishing holes along the creek at very young age. My goal was to fish miles of the creek in waders with my Dad - we used to pick him up 6 - 8 miles downstream. Got to do that when I was old enough and strong enough to stand in the rip. What a great time We used to fish light spinning reels with a small fly and very small splitshot so you could cast it. Let the rip carry the fly a bit and catch rainbow trout all day. I don’t recall seeing a lot of people use fly rods in that area back then (mid 70’s). Don’t know if it was just not popular then or because the creeks were small in such heavily wooded areas that you didn’t really have room for it. The mountains are very different but have a beauty and serenity like the marsh!

Penny that looks like a nice trip.I remember many a day with my sister fishing lil brook trout streams up in the Pennsylvania mts. I love a camp fire too, never to hot for sitting around the fire.

I am definately looking forward to going back.
I still have the pictures for you sophish…just let me know when you want them…no rush…just whenever you have a minute to meet up .

I saw these advertised on living social( the web site that offers all kinds of deals) and called them directly as i had a few questions. When I told “ALICE” that I had sen their ad on a web site she said I could reserve directly if i wanted to,and I did. The cabin we stayed in was a one bedroom(queen size bed) with a full bath/kitchen and living room. Living room had a nice cast iron gas log fire place. there was alo a large deck/porch partially covered with a 5 man hot tub…that overlooked a crek bed. their was a loft with a mattress bed that children could stay in. It had a outside fire pit, and a large and small charcoal grill . they supplied three sets of towels and the kitchen had a micro/stove/cofe pot and plates/pots and such. you walked down a fw steps to the river bed below and their was a picnic table there for that cabin. The people that own them have 5 there of various sizes. They are in a nice quiet spot and well seperated. theres also a little bridge with a hiking trail on that property. the man who owns them stocks the creek there. i saw a couple fish but they were small, but was told he was getting ready to restock. Cabin had a few things that could be updated but was clean and nice…and I would definately go back there again, and plan to. We paid 234.00 fo two nights and that included a 50.00 cleaning fee and taxs. certainly not bad for the privacy it offered. The sound of the creek rushing across the rocks…and it did rush… was enough to make me want to stay. The only other thing is the road down to it was a short…and one lane with two blind curves to the bottom. we just prayed not to meet anyone coming opposite of us  probally nohing to those use to driving them… it was 10 minutes max from bryon city…20 minutes from cheroke and 45 from pigeon forge…and well out of the hustle bustle. can take pets for additional fee… we left Roo at home  Doggy Day care at Moon Shadow on johns island…top notch place! if you stay there please dont miss going to the Deepwater Nati
