BLACK SEA BASS ARE NOW OPEN IN SC STATE WATERS OUT TO THE 3-MILE LIMIT. Yes, its true!
On April 25, 2013, The South Carolina House of Representatives passed Black Sea Bass legislation opening a Black Sea Bass season year-around in South Carolina waters. This bill that would open up a year-round season for black bass within state waters, which extend to three miles off shore. ``The law basically mirrors federal law, 5 fish per person per day and 13-inch minimum size limit, but it would be opening up a year-round season for black sea bass in state waters,

In a disappointing move, DNR’s Marine Advisory Board voted to try to kill the bill. The will of the legislature is clear: South Carolina will not be bullied by the federal government or environmentalists with ill intentions for fishermen.

The bill can be seen here: http://www.scstatehouse.gov/sess120_2013-2014/bills/3735.htm

I don’t think this is law yet. i believe it has to goto the Senate then the Gov.

Our own yellabird was all over this one in Columbia! Rep. Stephen Goldfinch is making an impact. Send him thanks on this, folks. I’m pretty sure he was the author, or at least one of the authors.

I won’t be bringing any home till I hear it from Mr. Pops…

I’m tired of being told that I have to “spread the wealth” to people who don’t have my work ethic. I’m tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy to earn it. I think I’m going fishing…!!

Well is it really worth catching the 153 short fish you’ll have to weed through to get a legal one that close to shore?

Well…when it becomes law…DNR are the main ones who enforce the law…most checks are close to the hill…so draw your own conclusions. I can catch keepers all day long at the Pawleys Reef as well as the Georgetown Jetties all during the winter. Any poke back at these crappy, immoral, unjust laws is a step in the right direction IMO.

It’s going to be weird seeing the Inlet Princess drifting Paradise and Pawleys reef. Won’t be many left after a week.
