Dilema

A few questions so bear with me here, recently retired, love the water and fishing, hate waking to an alarm after 34 years, (really!) After the pre dawn launch and few cups of joe, heading out to your favorite spot. Scanning the waterline, you notice a large school feeding. What are they and What do you throw? You arrive and hit the spots you did two years ago, replicating every success you had then, but not much luck. Are the tides right, bait, you’re unsure. You’re doing the same things you did two years agon, approach, bait, tides, what the hell is going on? You try everything you can think of but not much success. So, what do you guys suggest, seeing the waterline on fire with feeding in the arly a.m. hours, how should I rig? Fishing the spots where two years ago, boated over 40 for a 5 hour day on both artificial and live baits, any suggestions?

Man I dont know sounds to me like a good problem to have really. Good thing is it sounds like youll have enough time to get back into the game being recently retired so congrats on that. Not everyday is it you put 40 fish in the boat at least I dont some people might. If your out pre dawn maybe try some top water action and if thats not working maybe something on the bottom all I can suggest is try every possible retrieve depth and speed color whatever till you find what they want. Just bc you got them two years ago doesnt mean the same thing is going to be working today. So many people fish these same spots day in day out. They see it all. Just get out there and keep trying and remember your retired. Relax and have fun fishin. Ill be workin waitin to fill your shoes. Good luck Man. Im sure someone else can give you better advice but what exactly were you trying anyway?
