My 2001 Twin Vee has what looks like an epoxy based paint over the wood deck, similar to a Carolina Skiff (I think). Some hairline cracks have become a bit bigger, now the cracks are extruding a reddish brown stain from below.
So, I need to get this “fixed.” Probably needs a good deck surface touch up or paint. Who can do this sort of work? What would this cost on a 19’er?
DD, I can’t help out with a suggestion, but I am really interested in what you find out. I have some smaller hairline cracks that really spread out and opened up last year. They have me just a bit worried about water intrusion into the deck.
Good luck and let me know what you find out.
A long long slow walk in the spartina gives you time to think big thoughts and put your mind back into order.
If the cracks aren’t too large or numerous one can seal them back up with some marine tex or some factory color matched gelcoat or paint. If there is wood underneath, you definitly don’t want to wait too long to seal it back up, if you think the wood underneath might allready be wet (brown stains?) you want to let it dry out as much as possible before sealing it back up. (space heater on it, fan, heat lamp, etc…)
Holler if ya need more info or need a hand doin it.
