Heard second-hand that a boat was in trouble 54 miles out of Charleston and making distress calls - anyone hear anything?

Don’t know if it was two different incidents, but we heard coasties and several boats coordinating all day. By the sounds of it, it was an electrical/pump issue. Another boat dropped a battery, and I know the CG chopper was on scene. Seems like they had everything under control.

There was some talk for Sea Boy or C Boy yesterday. We heard it out of HHI.

One boatin distress assisted by good Sam approx 54 miles out until CG arrived. Then approx 35 miles out good Sam had issues. We assisted that vessel and yes it got UGLY! But in the end all were very happy to see the dock.

If I am a member and I called from 54 miles out would the entire tow be covered under my membership?

Good to hear everyone made it back safely.
Did the Good Sam experience an issue because of something he did to help or was his issue non-related?
I was wondering if he maybe gave a battery to assist the first boat, and then experienced a “short” or some electrical fault because of a loose battery wire. Could he have done something different to prevent his troubles?
Not trying to be nosey but we can learn from instances like this.
Yes, the tow would be covered with a TowBoatUS unlimited ($149/year) or higher option coverage. The good Sam was disabled due to an electrical issue which did occur after handing off a battery to the distressed vessel. Don’t have details other than that. They may chime in and provide more info. Thx
