Do you have one what do you recommend going in it?
Is a PLB necessary for someone like myself who only spends about 10% of their boating time on the coast and the rest of the time on Lake Murray?

Only if you want to be found! A PLB is not expensive and can be used fishing/hunting/hiking or any time you are out and about in your car in long deserted areas. Get one for peace of mind.

Worth the money. You never know what can happen especially if you are by your self.

BoatUs also rents PLB’s if your not sure you have the need to buy one
If you go offshore at all on the coast then the answer is yes you need one. If you are just cruising around Charleston and not heading out far in the big water, then you could probably spare the expense. I wouldn’t personally buy one just for lake use.
You can always rent on when you are in Charleston if you plan to head out in the big water.
