Since Phin brought up dive certification, I thought it would be nice to get some input on dive insurance. From my understanding most normal/common insurances you have with your employer do not cover ANYTHING accident related that occurs over a certain depth. Does anyone have any experience/input on dive insurance, such as DAN?
DAN is really the best option for dive insurance. A few other operations offer it (PADI, NAUI, etc.) but DAN (based at Duke University) has the best network, and access to chambers all over the world (including MUSC). Another benefit of DAN, is that the profits are used to build & fund more chambers around the world AND conduct medical research. Their profits are used to help the sport, and not just help the share holders.
Just like Boat US/Sea Tow… Don’t go off shore without it.

Except that MUSC doesn’t have a chamber to my knowledge… Roper has 2

They do. I think MUSC and Roper may share privelages… Dr. Lance Lee Davis is the attending, who oversees the hyperbaric facilities.
It’s really dedicated to hyperbaric O2 treatment, but the chambers can simulate >3 ATM for recompression therapy, IIRC. It’s fine for this area, with 4-5 single unit chambers. It’s nothing like the Duke facility, which has an entire wing, at least a dozen chambers of all different sizes and configurations and 20,000 sf dedicated to hyperbaric medicine.
DAN offers tours, and even classes, at their Duke facility, if you are interested. I paid them an unofficial visit a few years back, and did a quick look-around! Amazing facility.

Not that I am aware of… Maybe to affiliated dive shops/operations… Vic would be the best person to check with about that option.
Not “pimping” DAN for personal gain, if that is what you were asking. It would be cool, if they did give incentives! I could save some $$$ on the family policy!

I asked because when I looked at the sign up page, it had a section where you enter the info of the member who referred you. I would hate to waste a referral bonus.
