Ok I know it’s a long shot but was diving the Comanche sat and on my way down I dropped my spear gun with a go pro attached to it. Could not find it while I was on the botton. If anyone happens to stumble across it it would be much appreciated if I got it back. Unfortunately it’s about 50-75 ft southwest of the wreck. I know it’s a long shot but I just wanted to put it out there.
“Ouch” said the wallet.
That sucks,dude.

I’ve lost lift bags before and found them on the same reef 6 months later. There is a good chance that it will stay put. Personally, I would return something like this if I knew who the owner was and I think others would too. Fingers crossed.

That’s what I figured. There are still some good guys out there. I just wanted to get it out there. Not getting my hopes up though. Thanks for reading.

If you have the GPS#s, its right there. Just do a circle search with a buoy and 50’ line. Pm me if you need the how to! I’ve done a lot of searches, everything from car keys to jewelry and even bodies. 99.9% of the time they are within Ft. of were they went down. Once recovered a Rigger from the shipyard that fell off the back of a Sub in Jan in a 3kt current, he was right there 2hrs later when we finally got in the water. A Jack Stay Search is better in a larger area if the item is Valuable enough and worth your time, should work good with the Viz lately. A good Rhino and Go-pro is about $1000.00. Use the head harness under a light hood and your footage will improve %100. Way better then mounted to the gun IMO! Good hunting.
If it got any better I couldn’t stand it.
Thanks for the advice Bugcatcher. It was not a $1000 setup. LOL, More like $200 Gopro on a &100 JBL. Nevertheless it sucked to lose it on my 1st dive. Dive #2 on some live bottom and was literally petting 25lb grouper without a gun.

"Kiss my ass, I bought a boat; I’m goin’ out to sea." (Jimmy Buffett covering Lovett)
Many, many years ago while diving off Pensacola, we’d just surfaced from a 90 foot dive when a guy climbing back up the ladder had his wedding ring slip off his finger and hit the water. The boat captain told the guy to “point on the water where the ring hit” and when the guy did, the captain tossed over a marker buoy at that spot.
The captain then grabbed some fins, a mask and my tank and hit the water head first and followed the string to the bottom.
He surfaced a few minutes later with the ring and said the marker buoy weight had landed just inches from the ring which was half buried in the sand.

A good GoPro tip is to always keep 1 picture of your name, phone number and address on the memmory card. Chances are someone will find it one day and if you have this info on there your chances of getting it back are better. If you forget to take the pic, record yourself stating your name and other info.
dang, that stinks man. Hopefully you have your name carved into the gun or some sort of identification. I would assume most people would try and contact you if they found it.

Excellent plan. I’ll be doing that tonight, with a little “reward money” incentive in the picture. Thanks for the tip, Surf/Fish…
