DIY inshore

Hi,
I came across this forum while looking for some information. My wife and I are going to be in Charleston in mid September for a vacation and will be doing all the “Historic” touristy stuff We can do but I’d also like to get in a bit of fishing.
I’m wondering if there is a a place We can rent a skiff, Maybe a kayak, and do a little inshore fishing near some of the inlets or something. Nothing fancy, I just want to let a line and am not picky about what I catch. Flounder or anything will be fun for a few hours.
I will bring a fly rod and a spinning rod.

Ideas?

Thanks for any help!

Money better spent on a charter and a better experience in my eyes.
They provide all the bait and supplies, you relax and fish.

I personally wouldn’t take a kayak to the inlets, especially on a first trip…I wouldn’t wanna paddle against someof those currents. Ideally a charter wwould be a pretty good bet…if not in the cards, post in matchup section and some of the nice folks on here would take you guys if they had room…depending on the date I might be able to take you guys out. You could always hit the surf, low maintenance and you’re liable to catch anything…where are you planning on staying?

x2 on the charter. When I first moved here I did a charter with some family and it was a great experience. I think I caught more fish on that charter 3 years ago then I have caught total since then on my own.

Put in at a landing an hour or two before low tide, flow with the tide and fish the banks with “Gulp” shrimp under a popping or clicker cork in about 2’ of water, then take it easy coming back on the reverse trip. You’ll catch a few. Kayaks for rent at Crosby’s fish market on Folly Rd also end of Bowen’s Island.

Charter. Good ones on this site

Peapod, don’t you know the guys over at Low Expectations Charter:question:

Tennispro24, thanks for the offer. We are staying at the Windham. It would be cool to hook up with a local and just go. I tend to enjoy doing things the hard way sometimes. I actually guide on some private water out here in Utah and would love to work a trade with someone. We are looking at the charter option also and am not opposed to it but do love the challenge of doing things on my own our with non pros sometimes.
We will be available on Sep 12, 13, 14th sometime.
