DIY teaser rod build

I am looking to make a couple of teaser rods to run out of a couple 30 degree rod holders in the corners of an inboard center console. They will be behind/under the two short rods so they need to be short in length. I am going to mount a larger reel (start off with 6/0 senators, maybe TLD 50s) with 200 lb mono to run teasers while marlin fishing. The goal is to be able to crank the teaser in and put the whole teaser rod in the bow to get it out of the way whe the time comes. No interest in teaser reels mounted to the hard top or running them through the outriggers.

I have looked at kite rods as they’re about the size I want but I am concerned the blank might not be heavy enough if a marlin grabs the teaser with the drag cranked on the reel. For those who are more familiar with Kite Rods, is this a potential issue? I would use the Star Handcrafted kite rod as it has the full aluminum butt and replace the tip with an Aftco big foot roller. This option would likely have me at $160 plus shipping.

I have also considered building my own as the production ones are more than I want to spend. I would use an American Tackle two piece #2 black straight butt with an 18” gaff blink, Aftco Big Foot roller tip and a short foam fore grip.

The inner diameter of the ferrule is .873 and the outer diameter of the blank is .760. This leaves some room to fill with epoxy and secure it in the ferrule. The OD of the tip of the blank is .500 and the roller tip ID is either 32/64, 34/64, or 36/64. I imagine I would want either 34/64 or 36/64 to account for epoxy to secure it. The foregrip has an ID of .625 so it could slide down to the ferrule with a little shaving. I figure with all of this, I will have $160 plus the epoxy and shipping. The downside is taking the tim

What about looking for a couple of old school trolling rods and cutting them down to size. I had a truckload of them this Summer from an estate sale, only wanted the reels to rebuild, and gave all the rods away. A few of them had the aluminum butt sections.
