I got this link in my email to a DNR blog on redfish. It was an interview with Dr. Steve Arnott, redfish scientist. He provides some valuable info on redfish life and death, including suggestions on the best way to catch and handle redfish…especially keeping them in the water!!! No hanging by a boga!!!
Very good info indeed…and a “SHORT” leader with “FIXED” weight 3oz+, 20lb+ line…where have I heard that before…[:I]?
Good post!

Good post. I wish we would go back to 2 fish limit especially given that they believe we are in the orange range.

I would agree…just last week caught two 19in reds in one spot, kept them both and moved on. How much redfish can one eat in one day. Those two reds gave us enough fish to last two meals.
Good read!
Excellent read. Save the Redfish. Please pass along to all your fishing friends. I was here during the time when you could hardly catch a Redfish, I never want to see that again.
One of the DNR Biologist told me they are seeing the biggest decline in the Redfish population in the past 25 years.
Good article. Corkman I am right there with you.
I wonder what the mortality rate is on DNR caught bass in the trammel nets?i have noticed a decline in a few areas but they seem to be favored spots to set these nets.
Ha! The author is my neighbor… Gonna have to start picking his brain a bit.
We use that exact type of rig, and have the most success with it when soaking bait. We’ve been doing that for over a decade now. Pretty cool to see it on here. I learned about it from an old guy up on the OBX.
