Contrary to what some of the armchair wildlife biologists out there on the interwebs think, SC DNR has some great wildlife biologists doing great things for the natural resources of this state. If they could do their job without having to play political games and/or cave because Uncle Bubba or PeePaw have money and a few good ol’boy dinosaurs in the General Assembly in the hip pocket, they could be more effective. Politicians have no business managing wildlife or any of the state’s natural resources. Just because what they do doesn’t make sense to some, doesn’t mean they don’t know what THEY’RE doing.
In the future, where every stranger poses a potential threat, knowing the predator mindset is the only safe haven.

I was at the processor last night picking up and the lady checking in deer was weighing them, checking for lactation, measuring inside spread and points for data she was asked to collect. She said that they were getting ready for the changes in regulations next year apparently they have to report all the deer they process along with hunting license numbers… change is in the wind.
