Past weekend we went out and started to troll a nice weed line in 150 feet to only be greeted and followed by at least 10 Dolphins/Porpoises (Not sure what category they fall into). Was nice to see but couldn’t shake them as they trolled with us for a while in the front of the boat.
Has anyone ever had any luck when they troll with you or do they seem to spook any other fish in sight? We picked up and moved thinking their presence was scaring the fish away.
they spook them almost as bad as white braid
If I’m posting, its because I’m sitting here at work, dreaming about fishing.

So they attract them, then?
I’ll have to continue my work on training a pod of dolphins to accompany me on fishing trips.

They’re “fishing” too.
What mdaddy said. Dolphins are predators and dolphin fish are part of a well balanced diet.

You ever see one eating a ARS, you make sure you report it!
They’re better at fishing than me, so we try to shake them asap. There has always been a noticeable difference for me both inshore and off.
I was on a school once catching them as fast as we could get a lure back in the water. A bunch of them showed up and the school disappeared so fast your head would spin around!

No doubt. I think they even spook of shrimp. As a matter of fact I know they do.

Have caught dolphin numerous times around schools of spotted dolphin. We also caught a 50 pound wahoo under a school of them a couple weeks ago. Peanuts might be afraid, but large dolphin are not. I have seen schools of dolphin jump out of the water like baitfish when a really big Marlin comes into the spread.

Agree. Same with Blackfins. They are all feeding on the same bait, small pelagics (sardines, anchovies, squid, small mackerel, flying fish, bullet tunas). In Costa Rica, dolphins are usually a great indicator of Yellowfin and work the same bait balls.

We caught a dolphin off one of those balloons you always see out there and a big group of dolphin came in and played all around it. There wasn’t any way in hell we were catching anything else off it.
