Do not power load your boat,

Is not necessarily my opinion. I just like the high dollar video editing used.

Id like to see someone put a good size boat on the trailer in shem creek without power loading it. You’d have to fill your trailer tires with lead.

That video was thought-out and put together by someone that’s never fought a 4+kt current, a 15mph breeze, monster wakes by passing asshats cruising the landing to see who is around and cargo ships.

its law in some states and water ways that you can’t power load a boat. I call total bs on the issue, if we didn’t power load boats, we’d have to get the ramps dredged out. Just another way for a miss guided greenie making my life more difficult

Heck, try getting 12,000 lbs onto a trailer at folly ramp without power loading! Takes dang near every bit of 600 HP to get it all the way up on. I allways have to be careful there is no one docked behind me or just pulling in behind me when powering it up on trailer so they don’t get spun all over!

Should I have watched more than a few minutes of the video?

OK, I watched the whole 3:59 and I’ll never get that time back again. Thanks

I totally agree, but if you think Folly is bad, go to Dawhoo at Edisto. It was built out into the middle of the river. You have to watch the current to decide which side of the ramp to use or it is nearly impossible with a bigger boat.

I usually dock it, have someone back down and then run on from the docked position. This helps in the high current areas. Starting from 5 feet away has proven to be alot easier, slower (therefore safer) for me to load. You couldn’t do this at a really crowded dock, but there aren’t many people at the landings when I leave or get back.

I have designed a couple of ramps for the park service in Maryland and we used a riprap apron to help prevent the sediments from eroding and washing out the bottom of the ramp.

You mean prop grinders.

Claim, that short video clip is funny.

Matching the riprap to the slope of the ramp will keep from having prop grinders.
