I think I recall someone stating on this forum that our speckled trout have parasites that makes their meat softer. Can someone confirm this? Not that it bothers me-- just curious.

Never seen em in Speckled trout, but a lot in Winter Trout.
Never heard it making the meat softer though.
Trout is a delicate fish improper handling and storage changes the quality easier than some other fish. Everything can and most things do get parasites people included.
I went to a Marine Biology class that CofC offered on a Saturday a few years ago. We studied the water in the harbor, dragged several nets and researched what we found, and dissected a few fish. We dissected and studied a spotted sea trout and, yes, it was loaded with parasites. Not sure if they are all like that.
