Do you use your tide log???

I’ve been reviewing tide logs, notes, and fishing pictures from the last 4 years and I noticed things are kicking off a little earlier than normal this year.

Here’s a short Tech Tip to supplement the Coastal Angler article.

Normal compared to what?

I’ve never seen a fish with a calendar.

Not trying to mess with you but, what is “normal” to you and the weatherman is probably completely different than what is normal to flora and fauna.

I’ll leave you with this: Thrust the bait… not the weatherman.

What is “normal” to me? I normally don’t find schools of reds chomping at the bit until mid / late September. I jumped my first good cooperative school the first week of August this year. The next week I went 25 for 27 in 2 hours with 23 of them over the slot one day, then another dozen in an hour the next day with only one in the slot.

I stopped counting, but probably caught close to 100 reds in 5 trips. Only had one “bad” trip, but I tried fishing theough high tide to check out some different spots.
