What are some good DOA shrimp colors for reds and trout?
18’ Hewes Bayfisher/115 4 Stroke Yamaha/6’Powerpole, etc
Near clear, gold sparkle, red sparkle, golden bream, chartreuse, new penny, rootbeer, glow, glow/silver, figi chicken, glow/copper crush, near clear/chart.tail, near clear/pink tail, stark naked. I’m sure there are are more that work around here, but these are ones I keep handy in my tackle box for use in multiple water clarities/temperatures.
Personally I’m a fan if the natural color. Match the hatch kinda stuff!

Go with the white or silver gulp shrimp on jig heads. Especially when fishing in back creeks. I found the doa clear shrimp works good only on popping corks for trout. Reds mainly favor the gulps or live mud minnows on jig heads. No corks, just slow retrieve on the bottom (similar to the classic rubber worms for bass).

1/16-1/8 oz. jighead or similar weight flutter hook, head first.
When I fish the reds in the long grass I do the Texas style rig with the gulps ( bullet sinker on a worm hook) to keep it free from getting hung up. I wouldn’t hook the gulps any other way then through the head and hook coming out of the top. Make sure u place the hook down the middle and out the top, not just going under the “jaw”.
