DOA Shrimp Method

Just curious Do ya fish it the way it’s rigged or
I have been texas rigging it, removing the hook, clipping the tail
reverse a worm hook, inserting a rattle. Seems more natural jigging it backwards to me. But in MI the trout bite has been slow, so really havn’t put the time in using this method. Just wandered how ya’ll fish it?
From what i see most people fish it straight out of the package.
Looking for some input!

I use it right out of the package. The popping cork brings trout up from pretty deep, and fishing on the bottom works good in deeper water. Slow reel, twitch it easy on the bottom. That rattle sounds good; I have some and have never used one…glad you mentioned it. Don’t bite that tail, it’s on there to look good.

IMO, I like to use them under popping floats as a locator bait when working a bank. Once we find fish, I like to free-line (direct rig) them up current and let them settle…But they work many different ways

Right out of the package with a split shot 18" up the leader.

agree with sublime!!!^^^^^^

I guess i should of asked is anybody trying it texas rigged backwards
like i have, just looking to see if i’am wasting my time

that sounds right to work it backwards…ive only fished it out of the package…i wunna give that a try though

they cast further if hooked backwards (trim the tail flukes off)

This is the way i have been trying plus inserting a rattle in the nose, where the original eye of the hook was.

That was a pretty cool video, I may have to give that a shot.

I’ve kept shrimp in an aquarium and they really don’t do much backward swimming. When they ■■■■■ their tails to escape, they jump mostly upwards unless on the surface. I think the way DOA rigs them gives them the most natural movement.

Hey, if putting on a small sombrero and shoes on each foot helped, I would try it. I need all the help I can get.

Anyone have a color suggestion for DOA Shrimp? Really LOVE the video-Thanks JOE! I’m leaving in a minute and am looking for my sombrero!
