DOA Shrimp

I know I am a complete novice when it comes to artificial baits, but how do ya’ll rig your DOA shrimp? I know you can rig it like the deadly combos or free line it, but can you rig it like you would usually rig a carolina rig, just replacing the hook with the DOA shrimp? Thanks

I guess you could. The only reason would be to get the bait down into deeper water or faster moving current. If so, I would not go though the trouble of rigging it up with a swivel and egg sinker, but rather just add a split shot a couple feet up from the bait. The beauty of the DOA is is ability to drift along natually with the current. A standard carolina rig would impair that,.

You might want to try a 4" Gulp shrimp on a 3/8 oz. lead head jig. This works for me in deeper water (15-20’). If the current is strong, just throw it upcurrent and bounce it along the bottom. They seem to work a lot better on a jig head as opposed to a Carolina rig…I’ve tried both ways and the jig setup is superior. Good Luck!

I like to fish them free-lined on the standard hook in moderate-heavy cross current off.
