DOA shrimp

I have been fishing doa shrimp since I started fishing. I have yet to catch a fish one! It’s probably just me overthinking it but real shrimp move backwards when afraid. And we hook live shrimp through the tail so they look normal. So why not do that with a DOA? I tried one and will be fishing it soon. Will post results

that doa is rigged wrong.

but is definately a hot color.

rig the shrimp about 24-28" under the cork. pop the cork frequently, and then pause 1-3 seconds.
you may want to use a cork like bomber’s paradise popper, as it has a titanium wire that won’t bend, like the cork in the picture.

it is a very deadly rig. fish it close to the grass over points, creek mouths (small and large), and over flooded oysters.

I know, I put my hook in it backwards so it will swim backwards like a normal live shrimp in the wild.

I gotcha. Only thing is swimp move and swim forward in the wild. On that rig, I don’t think it would matter. The beauty of that rig is that the “pop” simulates a feeding fish, and as that bait descends naturally…and gets hammered if they’re there.

On a live shrimp with that rig I use a small #4 hahle hook rigged right under the horn. trout will almost always bite the head of a lure or livey first.

I believe that!

I think they would have hit the kitchen sink if I would have threw it at them this morning!
